Getting the bus? Plan ahead for a smoother journey

posted 20 April 2021

Due to social distancing in place, there are fewer seats available on our services, however we are currently running all of the buses we have to provide extra capacity on our busiest routes.

We would like to thank all of our customers for their patience over the past year. We are doing everything we can to provide the services our customers need and we will continue to monitor our timetables and make changes wherever possible.

To help us maintain a safe capacity on board, we ask our passengers to please:

  • Allow extra time for your journey
  • Avoid peak travel times where possible (06:00-09:00 & 15:00-16:30)
  • Be prepared to wait for the next bus if you see the 'Bus Full' sign
  • Plan ahead using the Stagecoach Bus App's Space Checker to identify quiet travel times and to see how busy your bus is likely to be

Addenbrooke's out patient bus stop suspended

posted 12 August 2020

The Out Patient Department Bus Stop at Addenbrooke's is currently suspended. This is due to the hospital's lockdown and reconfiguration of the Main Drive by the Emergency Department for Covid.

At this time Addenbrooke's do not have a timeframe as to if or when this bus stop will reopen as this is dependent on a number of factors, however it is something they are regularly reviewing as it is one of the most popular stops on site due to its close proximity to Out Patients, the Emergency Department and hospital main reception area.

Histon Road Cambridge closure

posted 25 June 2020

Histon Road will be closed inbound from Monday 29th June 2020 for improvement works which are scheduled to last for several months.

This closure will affect the Busway B service when travelling inbound towards Cambridge City Centre.

From Monday 29th June, the Busway B inbound service will divert via Cambridge Regional College and the Science Park stops and will then use Milton Road and Victoria Avenue to access the City. It will also continue to travel outbound on Histon Road, serving the Shire Hall and Orchard Park stops.

Click here for the Busway timetables which will run from Monday 29th June

8H Shuttle Bus
In order to compensate for the loss of inbound services on Histon Road, a shuttle bus which will be known as the 8H service, will be introduced from Monday 29th June and will be provided for the duration of this road closure.

The 8H shuttle will circulate from the City Centre via Victoria Avenue and Victoria Road to Histon Road and then via Kings Hedges Road to Orchard Park where it will operate via an anti-clockwise loop of Chieftain Way, Circle Drive and Chariot Way to Arbury Road and as the diverted route 8 to the City Centre.

Click here for the 8H service timetable which will run from Monday 29th June

Frequency
Monday-Saturday: The 8H shuttle service will operate hourly.
Sunday: No 8H shuttle service.

Alternative services for those travelling on Sundays
Orchard Park residents are advised to either catch a Citi 1 bus from Kings Hedges Road or walk to CRC for a Busway service.

Passengers who usually board on Histon Road for inbound City services are advised to catch a Citi 1 service or Citi 5/6 from Shire Hall.
