A temporary reduced speed limit will come into force on the Busway from 6 October 2025, and this will have an impact on bus times across the network.

Busway Maintenance Track Closure (27-31 January)

There are presently maintenance works being carried out on the Swavesey platform. The Busway is closed between Swavesey and Station Road Longstanton. Whilst these works are being undertaken and the track is closed, we will also be taking the opportunity to perform several beam lifts in this section to ensure the smooth running of the Busway.

This will mean that the maintenance track will be closed to all users between 27 and 31 January.

Busway Works at Swavesey: Temporary Closures and Diversions (20 - 31 January)

Essential repair works are scheduled to take place at the Swavesey Busway stops from 20 January to 31 January. During this period, both Swavesey stops will be temporarily closed to facilitate these necessary repairs.

To ensure continued service, a standard diversion route will be in place. Alternative stops will be located on Over Road (on the Over side of the Busway).

Busway Maintenance and Tree Works: Temporary Closure (Wednesday 15 Jan)

Maintenance works on a beam section are required this Wednesday (15 January) in the cutting section of the southern Busway. At the same time, essential tree cutting works will also be carried out in the same area.

The section between Trumpington Park and Ride and Hobson Avenue will be closed for this one day only, with both stops at Foster Road closed. Nearest alternative stops will be Trumpington Park and Ride.

Maintenance track closure at Histon 11 - 15 November

As part of the Histon north bound bus stop repairs, we are taking the opportunity whilst the busway is closed in this area, to repair root damage on the maintenance track. This will require several metres of the track to be removed and re-tarmacked.

Therefore, the maintenance track through from Park Lane/Gatehouse Lane/New Road crossing through to Station road Histon will be closed between 11/11 and 15/11/24. Diversion signs will be placed on the maintenance track to divert cyclists and pedestrians.

Essential maintenance works at Histon (St Ives bound stop) 6 - 18 November

Essential maintenance works to the Histon (St.Ives bound) stop need to be undertaken between 6th November and 18th November.

This will mean a closure of the Busway through the New Road/Gatehouse Road through to Station Road Histon section of the Busway in both directions during the above time period.

The only stop affected by this closure will be the Histon St.Ives bound stop and diversions will be in place for the buses.

Those passengers wishing to travel towards St.Ives will need to use the stop on Station road opposite the Railway Vue .Information will be placed on the affected stop.

Essential maintenance works at Orchard Park East 28 October - 5 November

Essential maintenance works to the Orchard Park east stop (Cambridge bound platform) need to be undertaken between Monday 28th October and 5th November. This will mean a closure of the Busway through the Orchard Park section in both directions during the above time period.

The Busway B service will be unaffected by this closure. The Busway A diversion will be as follows:

Bus will leave the Busway at Station road Histon junction and follow Cambridge road onto Histon road Cambridge. Passengers requiring route A towards Cambridge will use the first Bus stop on Cambridge road (just beyond Station stores & Richard Stebbings Funeral Service). Passengers in Orchard Park should use the stops on Histon Road for boarding and alighting route A.

Signage will be placed at affected stops.

Amended Busway B timetable from Sunday 3rd November 2024

We are pleased to amend our Busway timetable to add two extra journeys in the morning and afternoon peak, between St Ives Park & Ride and Drummer Street. This will offer more seats when they are needed.

As a response to severe congestion on Hills Road, which means it is now taking up to 29 mins to travel to Addenbrookes, we have no choice but to reduce the number of B services going to the colleges from nine journeys to five. This ensures that college students get the service they need but other B customers get a more punctual service.

Busway southern closure 19 Feb to 29 March

Between 19th February and 29th March the Busway between the central rail station and Addenbrooke's spur will be closed. Buses will be diverted and no stops will be closed.

Busway Orchard Park closure 24 to 25 June

Maintenance work is required on the Busway at Orchard Park East. This will be carried out over the weekend of 24th/25th June. Unfortunately, this requires the closure of the Busway through Orchard park over this weekend. Both Orchard Park East and Orchard Park west stops will be closed. Service A will be unable to serve orchard Park in either direction and will divert through Histon with the closest stop to Orchard Park being Histon Road Cambridge. Service B will be unaffected.

Orchard Park residents on Saturday can access the new Service 8A using stops on Stanley Avenue or Circus Drive. This service runs every 30 minutes from 07:30 until 19:00.

Busway southern section closure 1 May to early July

The Guided Busway between the Cambridge central rail station, Addenbrooke's Hospital and Trumpington Park and ride will be closed between 1st May 2023 and the first week in July 2023.

This is to facilitate the building of a new crossing point as part of the Cambridge South rail Station planning conditions between Francis Crick Avenue and the Addenbrooke's spur section of the Busway.

The Cycle/pedestrian path will remain open.

Diversions will be in place and the two Foster Road stops will be closed with the nearest alternative stops being at Trumpington Park & Ride.

Network Rail apologise for the inconvenience caused.

Busway essential repairs 25-26 February 2023

Busway defect correction works are required to be undertaken over the weekend of 25th/26th February. This will require the closure of the Busway and maintenance track between Histon station road and Orchard park spur. The Cambridge bound Histon stop will be closed with alternative stop being in Cambridge road Histon outside Anglia Fireplaces.

The Busway A service will call at the Histon Cambridge road stop then travel in via Histon road Cambridge. The Busway B service will call at Histon Cambridge road stop then enter the Busway at Kings Hedges road serving both Orchard park stops. Inbound and outbound stops at Orchard Park West and East will be reversed so that those wishing to go into Cambridge will need to go to the stop on the opposite side of the track they would normally.

Busway essential repairs 3-6 February 2023

To carry out defect correction works the Busway will need to be closed between St.Ives and Swavesey from midnight on Friday 3rd February and 05:00 Monday 6th February. Both Holywell Ferry stops and the maintenance track will be closed during these works.

Busway essential repairs 20-23 January 2023

The Guided Busway between Oakington and Orchard Park will be closed from midnight on Friday 20 January (00:00 on Saturday 21 January) to 05:00 on Monday 23 January for essential repair work to parts of the track.

Several stops will be closed:

Oakington: passengers will need to use the Stagecoach Citi 6 bus from the stop in Water Lane.

Histon: passengers will need to use the Citi 8 bus from the stop in Cambridge Road (outside Anglia Fireplaces).

An hourly shuttle bus will call at the Orchard Park, CRC, Science Park and Cambridge North rail station stops from 06:00 on Saturday 21 January and 08:00 on Sunday 22 January.

Diversions in place 11th December 2022

Defect correction works need to be undertaken on the Busway between St.Ives Park & Ride and Holywell Ferry. This will require the closure of the track between St.Ives and Holywell Ferry in both directions and will take place from Midnight on Saturday 10th December until 05:00 on Monday 12th December. Hollywell Ferry Lake's stops will be closed whilst this closure is in operation and route diversions will be in place.

New timetables from Sunday 30 October

On Sunday 30th October 2022, we will be introducing a new, sustainable bus network to the communities of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough to reflect post-pandemic travel patterns.

Bus use in the UK has only partially recovered since the pandemic. Local bus operators, including Stagecoach, have been working to re-base local bus networks to take account of changes in people’s travel habits, lower passenger numbers, rising costs and labour challenges. This will ensure we can provide a sustainable network that we hope can grow over the longer-term.

Sunday timetable on Monday 19 September

Diversions in place 5 - 7 August 2022

A concrete slab on the St.Ives bound side of the track at Oakington requires maintenance. This will require the closure of the track between Oakington and Longstanton Park & Ride site in both directions and will take place from Midnight on Friday 5th August until 17:00 on Sunday 7th August. No stops will be closed whilst this closure is in operation but diversions will be in place.
